A Night to Remember: Celebrating the Music Care Person of the Year 2022
It was a sunny and promising afternoon in Los Angeles at the Music Care Person of the Year event in 2022. Guests, deeply invested in the future and safety of the music industry, arrived dressed in black ties, white shirts, cocktail dresses, and other elegant attire. Their outfits sparkled under the golden Californian sun, reflecting the importance of one of the most anticipated events in the music industry calendar. XOUNTS, an integral part of the music community, was present at this event, with much more to contribute and offer.
Amid the crowd of celebrities and stars was a man who, we must admit, paid little attention to formalities, ignoring the dress code and donning a T-shirt and jeans. Looking at him, one might wonder: Is he a rock star? What band is he from? The answer is simple: he is a rock star, but from the world of art.
This man, who would attract all the attention throughout the event, was world-renowned artist and illustrator Rob Prior. Invited as a special guest, he was tasked with painting the renowned Person of the Year, Joni Mitchell, a celebrated songwriter and singer.
As the event kicked off, Rob captured everyone’s attention with his unique approach. Unlike traditional artists who reveal their work only when it’s finished, Rob performed live, sharing every step of his process and revealing his secrets as he worked. And that is exactly where the magic happened.

Joni Mitchell, who is also a painter herself, was so impressed by the performance that she decided to finish the portrait together with Rob.
